World of Warcraft Review

ruibo chen Published 12/3/2005

World of Warcraft is by far the best and largest MMORPG out yet. World of Warcraft follows a long history of the original strategy game warcraft. There were 3 popular titles that were released previously that were also an extremely big hit. Warcraft, Warcraft II, Warcraft III and the 2 expansions "The Frozen Throne" and "Reign of Chaos". The release date of the game was on Nov 23, 2004. A year after its release and there are about 4.5 million subscribers and still growing stronger each day world wide.

World of Warcraft takes you to a 3D environment in the World of Azeroth. The World is the largest virtual environment ever created. You can explore through deserts, forests, mountains and more. It may take months before you can finish traveling through all of Azeroth. There are of course mounts such as horses, gryphons and other animals that can help you travel through Azeroth.

Along with the great 3D environment you are able to customize your characters looks in the highest of detail ever possibly invented. There are next to an infinite combination of faces, eyes, texture, size, weight, coloring to choose from. Unlike many other MMORPGs, you're bound to find a twin here and there but the possibilities have gone unlimited with Blizzards character creation.

World of Warcraft consists of 2 fueding realms, the Alliance and the Horde. Each realm may choose from 4 different races. Alliance members may choose Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, and Gnomes while Horde members may choose Orc, Tauren, Troll and Undead. Along with the 8 races there are also 9 classes that you may choose from which are the Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior. Each player also has the ability to choose a profession for their character. A profession is very helpful to the players as it may help them create great armors, weapons, items and other equipments. A player may choose 2 primary professions and as many secondary professions as they like.

Blizzard has been updating World of Warcraft much more than their previous games that required connection to Battle.net. Quests, items, fixes and other great enhances are being added or changed to improve gameplay. Unlike other MMORPGs, the quests of WoW are made to help leveling and is much pleasurable. It is not as repetitive as you are required to kill the same monsters and the constant travelling back and forth to speak to a dozen NPCs.

Like most and all MMORPGs, WoW has their own game economy and ingame shop/auction house. Their currency is based on copper, silver and gold. World of Warcraft gold is most commonly used to purchase weapons, armors, items, skills, spells and travelling. While selling back items to a NPC shop is easy, the returns are unfavorable. Majority of the players would sell off their unwanted items to other players at a highest rate than what the NPCs will offer.
PvP has been by far the most thrilling theme of most MMORPGs. World of Warcraft includes PvP servers and non PvP servers. As Blizzard continues to update the game, their most recent patch included the battle grounds. A zone where the Horde and Alliance comes together and competes. The winner will receive special rewards and methods of increasing their overall character status.

Blizzard has taken ideas from many different games and combined them all into 1. It has yet been by far the most successful MMORPG to this day and still growing rapidly. With a subscriber base of 4.5 million players world wide, I'm sure the game will continue to be popular for over a decade. World of Warcraft Gold Guide

ruibo chen Published 12/9/2005

Having enough Gold in World of Warcraft is one of the most important aspects of the game. Gold has a major effect on your game play. Gold of course has their common known usage in a mmorpg game which is used to buy and sell items from vendors and other players. In world of Warcraft, gold can be used for training. To learn new skills you are required to pay the trainer a fee. Alot of gold would be required to perfect your character. Here are some tips to help you farm World of Warcraft Gold.

Grabbing a profession early in the game can most definitely have its advantage. You are able to level up your profession easily and gain its benefits. 2 professions we highly suggest starting with is mining and skinning. As you kill animals and other creatures in World of Warcraft you can easily skin the animals and sell them to vendors or other players with a nice load sum of profit. You are also leveling your profession as well. While you're out leveling your character I'm sure you will kill a numerous amount of mobs that you can skin. The mining profession is another great profession. You will oftenly run into caves which may have some very prosperious mineral ores. Some minerals are very popular in the game and are highly demanded.

Questing in World of Warcraft is unlike any other MMORPG released. Quests are one of the biggest advantages you can have in the game. While you're out leveling grab a quest each time you get. Only takes a matter of seconds. Not only will you receive EXP from killing the mobs in the quest but you will also gain additional EXP from completing the quest along with some nice items and money. A great bonus added to help players level faster and get richer of course.
Gears in World of Warcraft can get quite expensive. Alot more expensive than just training. From levels 1-40 I highly suggest not investing any money on buying gears or items. Low level characters are not too gear dependent. The quests should be able to provide you just about everything you need. Save the extra gold you have for higher level gears.

Certain types of mobs tend to have better drops than others. From what we've noticed so far, humanoids tend to drop more gold and items than any other creature in the game. So while you're out leveling away, try to kill as many humanoids as you can. If you find these tips useful check out our website http://www.worldofwarcraftgoldguide.com for even better WoW gold guides.

World of Warcraft Account or WoW Power Leveling

(ruibo chen Published 02/4/2006)

There are many advantages and disvantages to buying a World of Warcraft powerleveling or a used World of Warcraft account. They both serve similar purposes in which you can start playing at a much higher level rather than starting fresh at level 1.

If you buy a WoW power leveling session you are basically just hiring players to level up your character in which can save you time. Power leveling sessions are really cheap, normally alot less than the $5/hr minimum wage offered in the US because most of the workers who are leveling are based in China. Not only that but they normally are able to level faster than the average player considering they have workers rotating shifts along with many many practices in the game. One of the best part of leveling a brand new character is that you will have a fresh reputation of the character and you would be able to name the character as you like. You can even have the character trained the way you want as well. The disadvantage of a WoW power leveling session is that during the session you wouldn't be able to log on and play the character until its been completed. So for a little downtime you get to have your character at the level you want at next to maximum speed.

Buying a used World of Warcraft account is very similar to power leveling. The advantage is that your character will likely be geard with some nice equipment and you won't need to spend the time waiting for the character to be leveled. It's a faster option of power leveling. But unlike power leveling, you won't have some privileges if you buy a used account such as naming the character with what you want and training the character the way you prefer. Along with that you may have to live with the reputation that the previous owner lived up to. It may be good but not always. It's a little risk that comes with it.

Both methods are great, as for pricing, I would think a used account would cost less since. Power levelers usually have their own rate as to a player quitting the game and selling their account. If you prefer to have a more fresh start, go with power leveling. If you prefer the speed then a used account would be optional but of course you would need to spend the time finding the account as well.

Will You Die If You Don't Buy The New X-Box 360 Gaming System Today?

(Jack Redbud Published 02/12/2006)

Ok, so my kid is driving me absolutely nuts about the new Xbox 360 gaming console from Microsoft, which of course, is all the rage now. Dad, "I've got to have it!", he says. "My old crappy Xbox system, my GameCube, my Playstation 2, and all 47 versions of my Nintendo GameBoy are terrible! The graphics are so bad I feel like I'm watching non-HDTV! All of my friends have the new Xbox 360 game! The 360's graphics are killer, like nothing you've ever seen before! If I don't get one then everyone is going to make fun of me and I'm going to die!"

Get the picture? Ok, so we may have made a mistake somewhere around the twenty-third gaming console purchase. Maybe we, as parents, have encouraged such behavior. Nah, I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, as luck would have it, I too, am a sucker for the latest craze in high tech video games, and yes, I was that guy sitting in the nice, comfy, black leather recliner positioned directly in the center of the Best Buy showroom the day the first, and extremely short-lived, stock of the graphically phenomenal Xbox 360 game systems arrived! Plus, I certainly don't want my 10 year old to be made fun of and die, so I decided that it was my duty as a parent, to at least look into, the possibility of aquiring the Holy Grail of all gaming systems...the pantheon that is the Xbox 360.

So, I set off on my typical in-depth Xbox 360 research and analysis project. I read press releases, searched for the latest new and articles, called around to various electronics stores, and to the parents of some of those "cool kids" that my son told me had already taken possession of this new technical wonder. I then gathered my data, constructed my spreadsheets, and scientifically came to the only logical conclusion possible. Fuhgetaboutit!

That's right, as much I enjoyed those edge-of-the-seat moments playing the brutally demanding, and gorgeously brilliant, first person shooter, Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox 360 console at Best Buy, I decided the only logical decision at this point, was to hold steadfast and continue to have my son suffer with our existing, decaying arsenal of gaming consoles that currently litter the house from top to bottom. So what was the driving forces that led me to this unpopular (at least with my son) conclusion, you ask. Well here's the shortlist.

1. The Xbox 360 system is virtually impossible to find, and if you do, you have to buy the $800 - $1000 gaming bundle, which includes games that will surely be long forgotten in only a few short months.
2. Pretty much every video game currently offered for the new 360 system is certainly not appropriate for a 10 year old. You are limited to titles such as Dead or Alive 4 and Perfect Dark, both rated M (for mature), or at best titles such as the aforementioned Call of Duty 2, rated T (for teen).
3. Very few games released for the new Xbox 360 gaming console will be compatible on the old Xbox system.....that really irritates me!
4. From what I'm hearing, a fairly high percentage of the systems are experiencing some very significant technical problems, if not all together crashing.
5. Oh, did I mention that you're going to have to shell out between $800 - $1000 for one of these sought after prizes?(see #1)

So yea, a pretty simple decision after all. Not reliable, no child friendly game releases, and requires taking out a second mortgage on your home if you are lucky enough to find an in-stock bundle. Plus here's the other HUGE reason to hold off. Both Sony and Nintendo will be releasing their new high end gaming consoles in just a few more months....the Playstation 3 and the Revolution. It's estimated that the Playstation 3 will be weighing in at under $500, with the Revolution at a $299 price point, and I'll guarantee you they will be on a mission to outperform the Xbox 360 in every way possible! Better still, both of these manufacturers have already stated that their new systems will be completely backward compatible, meaning you don't have to scrap the shelf full of video games you already have! But, if at that point, you're still set on buying the Xbox 360 system, you can give Sony and Nintendo a call and thank them for saving you a few hundred bucks when Microsoft if forced to drop their prices in order to compete!

So son, "Hang in there and see if you can take the abuse from all you buddies for a few more months, then we'll see who has the most "Rad" gaming system around come this fall!"

When a Game Becomes a Job - World of Warcraft Raiding Guilds

(Lucio Pereira Published 07/23/2006)

Why did you decide to apply for an open position here? Do you have any references? What time commitment can we expected from you? What might sound like a job interview to most, is indeed a typical application procedure - for top raiding guilds in World of Warcraft. They pride themselves in being the most skilled players and they are just as picky if it comes to select new members. Is this just tough corporate guy acting, or have player-made organizations evolved into something much more complex than ever anticipated?

For most of the six million World of Warcraft players, slaying the biggest dragons on the servers, getting the mightiest swords or becoming one of the most powerful mages is their biggest dream inside the game. There is just one little drawback: You don't get there alone. This is one of the reasons why players band together in guilds - groups of players with a common interest. For the really big goals, you need lots of friends. 40 is the maximum and often required number of players it takes to kill the mightiest dragons in "WoW" - the affectionate abbreviation World of Warcraft players use for their game. Guilds that specialize on those big hits, are being referred to as raiding guilds.

It's a little bit as if the table has been turned around on Super Mario. Instead of one hero fighting never ending waves of foes, it's groups and armys of players now fighting one big evil monster. These epic battles in the virtual realm require strategy, coordination and practice. Players discuss possible strategies in chats and forums, play together every evening to make their teamwork perfect, use headsets and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) software to coordinate their efforts vocally, watch videos on YouTube of other groups fighting them and read up on strategy guides how to beat the next big dragon in their path. They are full-time players, members of raid guilds.
Members of raiding guilds often recount their "raiding schedules" - sometimes with pride, sometimes with a tired sigh. Weekly attendance requirements usually have them play 5 hours on 4 evenings a week. And those time frames are meant only for actual raid encounters and do not include preparations inside and outside of the game. This of course leaves little free time for other activities, though most of them seem content with that. They work together to achieve a common goal and upon success, they see their long preparations and teamwork rewarded, while looking forward already to the next raid.

The level of organization becomes apparent when looking at the tools a leader of a raiding guild uses to manage his members:

  • Guild portals to manage guild websites, news, member listings, openings and updates
  • Forum software to facilitate discussions of strategies and publish announcements
  • Server licences and servers for multi
  • conference VoIP applications
  • Mailing software to notify members of emergencies and short notice raids
  • Incentive databases to track raid attendance by members allowing to reward them accordingly with virtual items

There are dozens of different providers for guild portals, databases and game-specific VoIP programs that cater to the need of raiding guilds and other professional players. Software sellers adapt more and more to this emerging market and recognize the earning potential. The guild's requirements rise and the growing number of vendors suggest that they are taking their organizations serious enough to spend significant money on them.

Already there is a Leadership e-book on the market, written specifically for guild managers in World of Warcraft. The World of Warcraft Guild Management Guide (http://www.killerguides.com/guides/wow/guide/world-of-warcraft/guild) adds a game-specific twist to the self-help, how-to and leadership literature. It seems to be only a matter of time before the first guild consultants pop up.

Raiding guilds still seem to be in their infancy when looking at their recent and silent rise. Maybe the competitive members of those online game sports clubs manage to take things a little further. It happened before - take a look at the nationwide success, TV broadcasts and tournaments for the game Starcraft in Korea. If serious sponsors become interested, who knows - maybe dead dragons will soon be presented by Pepsi and you'll see Lenuvien, the Elf popping a can for the next commercial.

Unleash The Power Of The PSP Gigapack And PSP Download Services

(Terry Brazil Published 03/22/2006)

The PSP Gigapack is the most powerful handheld gaming package ever created. But not only is it powerful it is also a great value if you are looking to get the most out of your handheld gaming.

The heart of the Gigapack is the Play Station Personal handheld gaming system. The PSP is the most powerful handheld gaming device ever created. The PSP runs on a 333Mhz processor that is almost equal to that of the Play Station 2. It incorporates 32MB of main memory and 4MB of DRAM.

The screen measures at 4.3 inches. This is the largest screen size for any handheld with the Nintendo DS measuring in at 3 inches. The PSP also has a screen resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. This is almost double the Nintendo DS?s screen. This makes for a really high resolution image.
The PSP has built in stereo speakers as well as a slew of different ways to communicate with it. Among the communication methods are 802.11b wireless networking, USB 2.0, Pro Duo memory stick, IrDA, and an infra red remote.

The PSP takes UMD cartridges which is made for the PSP exclusivly. The recognized file formats are the PSP game format, UMD Audio, and UMD Video. All of these can easily be created on a computer and loaded to your PSP?s memory stick via the USB cable. This allows you to download a very large variety of files for use on your PSP.

The PSP also features a headphone and microphone jack. This allows you to talk to others while playing online. The PSP is basically a computer you can fit in your pocket. It also has a power connector to recharge the PSP?s built in battery.

The buttons consist of the standard PlayStation controller buttons with a few extras. The additional buttons are home, power, brightness control, sound mode, volume, wireless networking on/off switch, and a disk eject button.

The PSP also features parental controls. This will allow concerned parents to lock their children out of games and movies they shouldn't he seeing. This is a great feature and the PSP is the only handheld gaming device to offer it.

Sony also plans on delivering a slew of accessories to even further your handheld experience. You can also pick up the USB Camera for PSP, USB GPS for PSP, and USB Keyboard for PSP.
The Gigapack takes this outstanding gaming system and teams it up with a bunch of the added extras. Some Gigapack vary in what they give but most are the same. Included in the Gigapack is a 1GB memory stick (to hold your favorite games, movies, music, and more), PSP headphones with remote control, soft carrying case, PSP AC adaptor, PSP battery pack, travel plug (so you can charge your PSP anywhere in the world), PSP stand, USB cable, cleaning cloth, and usually two games.

You can obviously see why the PSP Gigapack is the most powerful handheld gaming package in the world. Teamed up with a great PSP download service you will have all you will ever need for handheld entertainment. Even if you already have a PSP you should at least invest about $55 on a 1GB memory stick.

There are a few PSP download services on the market and I have tried most all of them. The one I am most satisfied with and use on a daily basis is PSP Download Services. They offer a ton of benefits to get the most out of your PSP.

Although you can find PSP files for download on the Internet for free they are usually fairly speratic. It may take a few hours just to locate what you are looking for and a lot of the time the file may be taken down. This happens a lot if the game has not just recently been released. The same is true for PSP movies that can be found for free.

I strongly suggest you use a PSP download service. This way you will not waste away hours just to find out that the file you are looking for has been taken down. With a download service you simply search for what you are looking for and it will come back with a list of results. You are usually guaranteed to find what you are looking for. For instance PSP Download Services offers an amazing 20+ million files. You will always find exactly what you are looking for.

Depending on who you choose you may have a monthly download limit or even a monthly bandwidth limit. Others may give you a content limit so you can only get a certain amount of say games or movies in any given month. You will never experience any of these problems with PSP Download Services. You will always get UNLIMITED PSP game, movie, music, mp3, software, screen savers, background image, themes, e-books, and more.

PSP Download Services also runs on the world fastest network and uses a download excelerator. That means that you can use this great service even if you only have dial up. What this mean for you is that your downloads that usually take a matter of hours will only take you a matter of minutes with PSP Download Services.

You will also get step-by-step instructions on how to use this great technology. Even a complete computer novice can use this service with no problems. Even if you do get caught up on something you can always call technical support. They will also give you the file transfer software needed to load your PSP full of your favorite titles.

Tips on understanding the benefits of a Download Manager

Paul wilson Published 12/6/2005

Multiplayer games and tournaments are now offering cash prizes, adding to the thrill of competing. To participate, a valid credit card or paypal account is required. And, a player must live in a state or country that has no laws against online gaming for money. Sites which promote such activities are: www.worldwinner.com and www.arkadium.com

Gaming leagues are becoming professional and organize competitions where cash prizes are worth over US$ 100,000 in cash. These events are seen as business and marketing development opportunities. Hardware manufacturing giants like Intel sponsor gaming clans and see gaming world-wide as a profitable avenue for promoting their products. High-stake gaming competitions are popular, but the real fights occur behind the scenes, where companies spend millions trying to get their technology directly into the hands of gamers.

Professional gaming has taken the world by storm and, LAN competitions are high-stake tournaments with a few gamers earning a living just competing. A professional gamer with a sponsorship plan in place can earn up to US$ 500,000 per year. Cyberathlete, Professional League, Gamecaster, Global gaming League, are some of the organizations that host competitions. The first professional gaming league was set up in 1997 and today the competitions are not just televised but covered by major publications and newspapers. MTV, CNN,ESPN, USA Network, ABC World News Today, FOX, WB and others telecast the events live.

Gamers from all walks of life train intensely to become virtual world champions, winning brings fame, money, as well as recognition. And, since 2001 The World Cyber Games are held in a different country each year. The prize in 2004 was worth US$ 400, 000 and competitors played: FIFA Soccer 2004, Need for Speed, Underground, Star-Craft, Brood War, Unreal Tournament 2004, Dawn of war, Dead or Alive Ultimate, and Halo 2.

Gaming is serious; it is about quick thinking, intense practice, team work, interaction with other players, and understanding technology at its best. Gamers have to be on their toes, keep abreast with new launches, changes, patches, cheats, and more.

According to online gaming expert Psychologist Professor Mark Griffiths, ?online gaming addiction for a small minority is a real phenomenon and people suffer the same symptoms as traditional addictions. They are the types of games that completely engross the player. They are not games that you can play for 20 minutes and stop. If you are going to take it seriously, you have to spend time doing it?

That gaming is taken seriously is confirmed, many major colleges are offering minor as well as major courses in game design, animation, cognition and gaming, computer music, psychology of play and more. RPI, the Pratt Institute, University of Colorado, the Art Institute of Phoenix, the University of Washington, and the University of Pennsylvania are among those that have programs in computer graphics and game technology. They are set to become a feeder system for the US$ 10 billion a year game industry.

THE PROS AND CONS OF ONLINE VIDEO GAME RENTALS

John Hinkle Published 11/26/2005

Many other review websites may tell you that the online rental game clubs are anything but inadequate, just like any other company or system ever concieved, there are a few drawbacks. Although online rentals are a huge step in the right direction for video game rentals and storefront rentals, the drawbacks are few and far between. Let us take a look at them below:
Pros:
1. Online video rentals offer thousands of video game rentals with the newest video game titles being released on rental as soon as they come out. Older games are always available as well.
2. Deliveries are recieved in your mailbox within 2-3 business days of your order.
3. No late fees or delivery due dates for any game in stock. All games can be kept for as long as you wish.
4. Rental companies generally offer used games that are only a few months old for a much lower price than you would be able to find at any storefront or retail store location.
5. Customer service is always there to help with any shipping, tracking, or game problem that may arise within 24 hours.
6. Memberships are alot cheaper than renting games at a storefront rental if you tend to rent games more than 3 or 4 times a month.
7. Some online rental companies supply instructions, reviews, cheats, and community reviews to the public, online, so that gamers to make an informed decision on what to rent.
8. You will be provided with different rebates and special offers for being or signing up as a member.

Cons:
1. If you occasionally rent a game from time to time and don't usually rent more than 1 or 2 games a month, you may be wasting your money. Make sure that you know how much time you have available each month to devote to you favorite games. If your time if very limited, you may want to consider a 1 game a month plan or even cancelling if you are not playing at all. Almost all rental companies offer cancellations at any time unless you got offered a contract for a certain low price plan.
2. Some contract memberships will charge you a fee even if you do not rent any games at all during your entire membership. Make sure that you will make good use of your membership, even if your recieving a discount from other companies for signing onto a contract. It won't save you anything if you dont use it.
3. You may be one of those busy people, like many of us, who do not know when you may have the time available to spend on playing video games. When you do realize you have the time, you dont have 1-3 days to wait for a game to show up in your mailbox. Storefront rentals may be just the right choice for someone like you. You can pick up your game anytime and play it for the times that you have available.

The New DDO Gold & Plat Market Expansion

(ruibo chen Published 03/19/2006)

From time after time, many publishers still does not approve of players selling DDO plat but of course many players will continue to buy DDO platinum as long as they are available. It has not even been more than 2 weeks since its release date and sellers have already been flooding the market with all the D&D gold on nearly every server. So you must all be wondering where all this gold is coming from and how it?s affecting the game play?

Well, for start, there was a long beta period. With all that time many players have spent hours and hours perfecting the fastest way for them to farm DDO gold. Along with that, they have probably made several characters for trials, finding the fastest ways to level up to 50(currently the maximum level allowed). This is a very profitable market for Chinese players. They can easily run this service for Americans and make a great deal of Yuan.

Normally in any MMORPG, if you?re rich and have all the gold you need then you can more than likely buy all the gears & skill points necessary to help you level and make you the most powerful player possible. Well, guess again. In DDO there is a restriction to the items you may use, if you?re low level you cannot wear certain items above what you currently are. I?ve heard it takes approximately 2 months for an average player to hit 50. If you decide to purchase DDO gold, I believe you may be able to hit 50 faster than the average. For the unfortunate players who didn?t make that purchase, they will probably be left behind.

Many players find this market to be rather unfair. However many players does not have the time to devote 8 hours of their day into gaming and would like to be just equally as strong as those who spend more time playing. Fact is, even if you have all the items you need, what makes a player good is still their skills they have in ?microing? their own character. Along with that, a lot of the players would rather skip through the boring leveling process, especially if it?s very repetitive.

It is pretty hard these days to be 1 of the top players with out buying DDO gold from stores or other players. If you rather not spend the money I will be working on some free DDO Gold Guides soon.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 Console: Powerful Gaming in a Box

(Mark Robbins Published 02/20/2006)

Gone are the days of drab, underpowered gaming consoles with limited features. The Microsoft Xbox 360 is here! It doesn?t matter if you are a serious gamer or a mere hobbyist, the Xbox 360 that Microsoft launched in November 2005 is suitable for all players. It claims to have taken into consideration all the facets of ultimate gaming experience with this much-improved version of the original Microsoft Xbox that came out in November 2001.

Check your budget. Depending on what you can afford, you may start with the very basic core system composed of the light console, the wired controller and the composite AV cable; and when your budget allows you to purchase other peripherals one by one for the enhancement of your total gaming experience, maybe you?d want to change your wired controller with the wireless model, or maybe you?d want to add in the Xbox Live headset for amplification of sound effects to a mind-boggling level far above what your normal TV speakers could provide.

On the other hand, if you are one of those to whom "money is no object", you may just go ahead and buy the entire Microsoft Xbox 360 system, where everything is all in (i.e., the console with premium chrome finish, a wireless controller, the Xbox Live headset, component hard drive-AV cable, the Ethernet cable that allows you to connect with the other players, and the hard drive that contains an array of original Xbox games and allows you to download even more games. Since the Xbox 360 allows up to four wireless controllers operating on one console, it lets you play with three other players simultaneously for that added fun and challenge in live competition.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 gives you total digital entertainment. You may amplify and enhance your music and movies to a soothingly soft or to a ripping loud volume. Connect to the Internet and instantly stream your music, digital home movies, photographs and graphics or any other files stored in your hard disk, memory and other digital media that are Microsoft Windows XP-based PC that you want to share with others.

When attached to your TV, the Microsoft Xbox 360 takes advantage of the high-definition TV resolution in its full color and size that makes the game movie-like. Its anti-aliasing capability renders the animation flawlessly smooth and non-jerky, and the characters seem as though they are jumping out of the wide screen! When you are connected to the Internet via the Ethernet card, you have the Xbox Live headset, a facility that allows you to voice-chat with other players, thus combining active gaming with socialization.

There are games that are rated "must-have" because they are simply sensational with the Microsoft Xbox 360. These include Dead or Alive 4, Call of Duty 2 for the best WWII shooter, King Kong for great effects and Need for Speed Most Wanted for racing fans. For some odd reasons, some games that run with excellent audio and video effects using the first version of Xbox don?t run as well in the Xbox 360; these include Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06. This must be given immediate attention by the Microsoft people because it is a source of great disappointment for hardcore gamers and, in some cases, could be a deal-breaker. Pressure is on for movie makers and game programmers/manufacturers to properly and visibly indicate the appropriate rating of their products on the packaging to provide guidance for buyers. In this regard, it is an added attraction to parents that the Microsoft Xbox 360 has settings that allow them to control how it is used by their children. The box has Family Settings which enable parents to shield their children from unsavory or unwholesome contacts. Family Settings perform two functions on the Xbox 360 console to allow or restrict access to offline games and/or DVD movies, and access to online contact and content via the Xbox Live environment.
ESRB is the regulating body that takes care of rating the propriety or impropriety of a game or movie based on age. ESRB?s restrictions on games are EC (early childhood) for children below 6 years old, containing no inappropriate materials at all; E (everyone) for children younger than 13, and these have minimal violence and comic mischief but are substantial for character building. Some Xbox 360 games with an E rating include Ridge Racer 6 and NBA 2K6.
The rest of the ESRB ratings are: T (teen), which may also contain minimal violence, mild-to-strong language and/or suggestive themes; M (mature 17+) containing mature sexual themes or more intense violence and language; AO (adults only, for players aged 18+), which may include more graphic sexual themes and/or violence; and RP (rating pending) for games that have not been officially released yet.

With the safeguard placed by the Family Settings of the Microsoft Xbox 360 console, the parent feels safe buying the system for their kids. So, whatever the gaming preference of the child or the parent! -- Microsoft Xbox 360 promises to satisfy them.

The Commencement Of Online Multiplayer Games.

(Cade Wilson Published 11/20/2007 )

A things change with the rolling time and it is natural. It is the same case with the multiplayer gaming. Stepping back few years ago multiplayer gaming was just a ?+1? for each game that supported such a gamely mode; other than that, almost nobody cared about whether or not the title he/she wanted to buy supported a multiplayer mode. But as years pass new concepts, new ideas, and new techniques have all replaced the old multiplayer mode completely giving it a new shape making it the hottest gaming trend for the moment.

Never before DOOM had the gaming society witnessed a lifelike gaming environment and such an advanced multiplayer game play that alone shook the whole gaming world. The real explosion in online gaming world took place during the third quarter of 1993 with the released of the id software title DOOM. Although there where quite a few other multiplayer games available at the time but DOOM was a real revolution and the commencement of numerous sequels of Online Multiplayer Games in the following years with flying colors.

Doom was a revolutionary first person shooter and as years passed several other multiplayer gaming with mind-blowing concept cascaded in the gaming world. After the great success of Doom in the third quarter of 1993, success seem to be arriving with each Multiplayer game play, every time when it was released. Quake another multiplayer game released in 1996 after the released of DOOM enjoyed the same applauds. A year later Quake II shook the whole gaming world again with its more improved graphics. It was the only FPS multiplayer game to take advantage of this technology at the moment and with this pop up countless multiplayer MODs (modifications of the original game rules).

People were not fully acquainted with these new multiplayer games when Valve?s Half-Life another online multiplayer game that rocked the world. The effect was so deep and massive that it is still being played even now. This is probably the most popular and successful game of the last decade creating millions of fans, drawing their attention with its most fabulous graphical world and sound system. Counter-Strike, Call of Duty etc are it?s most popular modifications of the original game rules and it still appeals the sensory system of the game enthusiast. At present there are numerous blockbuster titles and many new multiplayer titles are released every day but the most dominant ones are Counter-Strike, Half-Life2, Lineage, Warcraft3, WoW, DOOM3, QuakeIV etc enjoying the kingly position.

Spider Solitaire ? a winning strategy

Boris Sandberg Published 03/6/2006
Spider Solitaire is one of the most popular solitaire card games in the world. It is often named Classic Solitaire Game and "the King of all solitaires".

Spider Solitaire is a lot of fun and has to be learned like any game. At first glance, this challenging and time-consuming game seems to be too complicated. But spider solitaire is a very easy game to play once you get the hang of it.

Not every game of Spider Solitaire can be won, but you have a better chance of winning if you plan your strategy carefully. Below you will find several simple rules that can increase your chances of winning Spider Solitaire.

1. Build sequences of cards by following suitWhenever you have a choice, prefer builds in suite (?natural builds?). Natural build may be moved as a unit to be built elsewhere. This allows you to expose a hidden face down card, which you may now turn over, or expose an empty pile.

2. Try to expose hidden cards whenever possibleUncovering hidden cards leads to a new set of possible moves. Besides, it is a way to get empty pile.

3.Try to make empty piles as early as possibleMove cards from tableaus that have fewer cards. Use empty piles as temporary storage when rearranging cards sequences into ?natural? builds as far as possible. Move cards to empty spaces to turn over more cards.

4. Build on higher cards first Among the ?out of suit? builds, start with those of highest rank. The reason for this is apparent. You can not move ?out of suit? build as a unit to another pile. So this build is of no use except as a temporary storage for cards from other piles. If we start with low card, the build will be finished with an Ace very quickly and then it will be useless. Starting from higher cards allows us to get maximum advantage from it.

5. Get as many cards exposed and arranged in suit order as possible before dealing the next 10 cards from the stock Otherwise your chances of winning are significantly reduced.

6. As soon as you remove a suit, arrange the remaining cards into ?natural builds?Use empty piles as temporary storage when rearranging cards.

Spend some time practicing this strategy and soon you will find yourself beating Spider Solitaire faster and more often.

Role of The Druid In World of Warcraft (WOW)

Hunter Crowell Published 12/31/1969
Of the many different character classes in WOW, each having a different accepted role, there is one lauded as superior by those who play them, and scoffed at by those around them. There are a few responsibilities that must be filled for a group of adventurers to succeed in a dungeon. There must be a ?tank,? someone who gets the attention of the monsters they are attempting to kill. A healer is important to keep the group alive. There are damage dealers who are primarily responsible for slaying the monsters in melee or from a distance. Characters in charge of crowd control stall certain targets to make taking down others easier.
Each class generally fills one role with ease and can switch to another if it is needed. The Warrior, for example, is first and foremost a tank. Warriors are given the most abilities to generate and maintain the focus of the foe. But in a group with two warriors, or if another class wants to try their hand at tanking, the warrior can be used as a damage dealer. The WOW Paladin, normally used in instances as a healer and support character, can generate cause enough threat to hold the targets attention.

The Druids of Azeroth, made up of the Night Elf and Tauren populations, have an interesting mix of abilities. To WOW, they are the shape shifting Jack of all Trades. They can heal the party, with efficiency topped only by the Priest. In Cat Form they can deal melee damage and sneak around their enemies with the guile of a Rogue. If shifted into Bear Form, they are capable of performing tanking roll of a Warrior. While in Moonkin Form, they can dole out massive damage by raining down arcane and nature spells on the target. This wide range of abilities makes the druid the ideal member of any party, if one person fails, the druid can switch over to the vacated role and pick up the slack.

This is not often how the party views the situation, however. In small instance groups of five people, the druid is often taken only if they are willing to be a healer, despite their versatility. A druid desiring to fill another role, especially the popular role of damage dealing, is shunned. The WOW developers gave druids certain abilities, such as moon fire or faerie fire, which are very visible spells. These spells have beneficial effects for the group, but a druid casting them on a target will often be ridiculed from the party for ?wasting mana? that should be reserved for healing.

The issue stems from two major problems in WOW. The first is the lack of healer classes. There is only one class out of eight on each faction that is a dedicated healer, the Priest. There are two other classes on each side that are capable of healing, the Paladin for Alliance and Shaman for Horde, then the Druid. The low amount of available healers leads to less players playing them, which feeds right into the next dilemma. The second problem being that most players are too shortsighted to see beyond the Druids healing ability. There are many people with the immutable mindset that if a druid can heal, he should heal. While they are an effective healer, they are quite effective at every other role they can fill as well.

No one would ever accuse Blizzard entertainment of being hasty with their decisions. WOW and their other games have had their release dates pushed back many times. In the past hardcore fans of Blizzard?s work know that this delay is for the best, the company labors to produce the finest quality product. The Druid went through months of internal testing and balancing before the concept became a reality. By giving the druid all the basic abilities of a rogue, a warrior, a mage and a priest, it is quite clear they had a greater intention for the class than staple healer.

New Business:Real life dollars buy virtual game money?

Steven Golden Published 11/24/2005

Will people pay real dollars for in-game virtual money to help their virtual characters buy in-game goods? One gamer, who goes by the screen name Haylo, said he spent $10 to $20 real dollars a month on in-game platinum(all nonexistent, of course) to buy weapons and other goods in Dark Age of Camelot (DAOC), but would spend more if he could afford it.
Most video games have some form of currency. In many ways, the in-game economy is similar to a real world economy - goods and services are traded to mutual advantage and are mediated in currency (platinum, gold,credit,etc.). "With all the things you can buy in game," a gamer said, "it's hard not to want them, just like real-life stuff."
The average Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game(MMORPG) player is 27-year-old -- a demographic drooled over by marketers. Plus, nearly half of all players have jobs, which often means they have more money than time and are the perfect consumers of virtual assets. On the Internet, many gamers now buy virtual money that only exist as data files stored in a server run by a game company with real-world dollars, and the buying and selling of virtual currencies may be off most people's radar, but it is truly big business.
An online broker, who goes by the screen name Rolala, was not a fan of online games until his 15-year-old son became interested in Final Fantasy XI. He then noticed that a large number of gils which are the currencies used in FFXI were for sale on eBay.
"I started hearing about players leaving the game who were selling their assets at cheap prices," he said, "so I figured, buy low, sell high."
But Rolala found his moneymaking options in FFXI "very limited". He switched to World of Warcraft. There, he has leveraged his real-life experience into an online business. He converts his game profits into real money on sites like "eBay" and "buy wow gold" ,etc. Earnings can be considerable. He said he was on track to earn about $120,000 in real money in his first year in this business.
Rolala's business is just one example of how increasingly popular online role-playing games have created a shadow economy in which the lines between the real world and the virtual world are getting blurred.
"World of Warcraft", the world's largest MMORPG, boasts more than 1 million paying users in North America. There are many sites like wow gold free strategics and world of warcraft gold guide , teaching gamers how to earn wow gold in game for free, however many players are still willing to buy gold and weapons to help their virtual characters get a higher virtual status more rapidly. Some virtual goods in World of Warcraft have been sold for thousands of dollars. It obviously creates a large real world market.
Edward Castronova, an economics professor at Indiana University who has written a book on the subject, calculated that if you took the real dollars spent within "EverQuest "as an index, its game world, called Norrath, would be the 77th richest nation on the planet, while annual player earnings surpass those of citizens of Bulgaria, India or China.
Go to GameUSD, an exchange-rate calculator for the virtual worlds, and do a search for the latest rates of virtual currencies against the U.S. dollar, and let your jaw drop open. The rates of some virtual world currencies are even better than that of the Iraqi Dinar! For instance, here is the recent exchange rate of several popular virtual currencies:Everquest Plat ($0.54/1K), EQ2 Gold ($0.17/gold), WOW Gold ( World of Warcraft Gold ) ($0.098/gold), SWG Credit ($4.40/1M), Lineage 2 adena ($2.80/1M), Guild Wars Gold ($0.12/1K),FFXI Gil ($17.89/1M), etc.
Right now, this business is one of the most hotly debated issues on the internet. Many game companies such as Blizzard who run World of Warcraft discourage profit from in-game properties, though none have found a way to stop it.
Sony Online Entertainment, on the other hand, encourages the practice (albeit within the confines of their own "Station Exchange", their own forum for the sale of in-game properties). It recently announced the first month's figures from "Station Exchange". According to SOE, over 45,000 characters from "EverQuest 2" have been active on the exchange and have spent over $180,000 USD in one month, half of which have been spent on in-game gold and platinum.
Despite of different attitudes towards virtual currency trade, the number of people who are getting into such business is rising, and the size of market has been expanding very rapidly. The market also creates a competitive environment. We could refer to sites like wow gold price comparison , a price comparison site, to see the fierce price competition between different exchange sites.
For some ordinary gamers, however, such a capitalist approach spoils the experience. Nick Yee, a psychology researcher from Stanford University, believes many players dislike virtual currency traders because, by using real wealth to buy virtual power, "they're breaking the fantasy-reality bubble, getting an advantage in a way that other players can't".
According to a recent survey by IGN, an internet media focused on the videogame markets, most gamers say they dislike and avoid this business, believing that it gives players with more discretionary income an unfair advantage.
But such attitudes are called into question by size estimates for the virtual asset trading market, which is seen having a value of $200 million to nearly $900 million in 2005.
One potential explanation for the disconnection between attitudes and money spent may be that gamers are unwilling to admit they use the services, IGN said.
In terms of the law's concern, another issue is, who owns the virtual money? Many virtual world designers maintain that anything created in the world belong to the company. They refuse to recognise the rights of their players in the virtual property for fear of attracting liability for its maintenance or security.
But will this work in the long term? Players spend considerable time and/or money acquiring such assets. In many cases they are the creation of the player and even the intellectual property ownership is questionable. "As we spend more time in these worlds, it's not enough for companies to say that 'we own everything and we can turn it off at any time,'" said a gamer. "The question may soon be should we have recourse against a game company for obliterating virtual assets?"
With the rapid growth of virtual currency exchange market, should people accord virtual property the same protection as property in the real world?

PS3 in general and moving from the PS2

(Michael Norris Published 11/6/2007)

How well do you really know the PS3?As you know, when you buy a PS3, there are many, many options and things to do on it. They only problem is while you try some of the many options available you miss some other key components to optimize your PS3 experience.
There are things I didn't know and still don't know about the PS3. For instance, how many of us had a PS2 before the PS3? Probably a lot, but what scared me when I opened the box was that there was no memory slot to get all your old games back! I was scared at first but then a friend told me how to solve the problem.
The solution I found was a little thing called a PS3-PS2 memory card adaptor. It is a small device you can plug a memory card into that has a USB plug at the end. I got one off my friend and in 5 minutes all my old games were back, and forever saved on the PS3!
The PS3-PS2 memory card adaptor usually runs from about $10-15 nowadays but can be found in used bins for less. There are quite a few useful tools for the PS3 out their even though their are a huge amount already installed.
Apart from the just the PS2 memory adaptor trick there is a huge selection of things on the PS3 most people don't know about, or notice. Most of the stuff you miss is simply the fact that much bigger toys are in the way. Of course with the PS3's huge option base there is a large number of things you can mess up or get glitched on.

Protect Yourself While Gaming

Paul wilson Published 12/1/2005

Tips to avoid eye strain and Proper sitting tips while playing games
Gaming means long hours at the computer. Self absorbent and an obsessive hobby, incorrect habits and posture are detrimental to health. Problems like musculoskeletal
injuries, eyestrain, and disabilities of the hands and wrist like, RSI or Repetitive Strain Injury are common.
Bad posture causes: pain, stiffness of joints, weakness, bad circulation, as well as swelling.
Ensure that:
The desk is designed especially for computers. While seated, the feet are flat on the floor; arms and thighs are parallel to the ground; back is straight; and the arms don?t have to stretch out to reach the keyboard or mouse. The keyboard height is such that the elbows are parallel to the ground and level with the keyboard. An ergonomic keyboard is recommended. The spine maintains its ?S? curve when seated, so use an ergonomic chair and if required, a footstool. The mouse is placed at the same height as the keyboard. Use your whole arm not just the wrist when operating the mouse. Typing is done with light fingers. The wrists should be flat and not angled to the left or right. To avoid nerve compression the elbow must not be angled more than 90 degrees. The arms are raised off the keyboard as often as possible. Tasks are alternated so that you are not typing or clicking the mouse continuously.Another factor is eye strain. Extended computer use can cause: blurred vision, focusing difficulties, as well as headaches.
Reduce risk by ensuring that:
The light source is angled from the side. The primary light source must not shine on the face or directly on the screen. Lighting should have a 10:3 ratio screen characters should be 10X brighter than background and room lights should be 3X the screen brightness. Use a shaded copy lamp to avoid screen reflections. Reflections and glare are eliminated by using an antiglare screen and by tilting the monitor slightly. The monitor must be centered so that neither the body nor neck is twisted when viewing the screen. The screen is of good quality. The text should be sharp and nor distorted. Change the resolution to a comfortable font size. The monitor is a suitable distance away. The screen is at eye level or lower. Brightness and contrast are reduced to suitable levels. It is important to:
Break concentration by looking away from the monitor at far away objects at least once every 15-20 minutes. Pause in between to blink your eyes rapidly. This will lubricate the eyes and prevent dryness. Schedule regular eye checks. Monitor blurred vision, headaches, red eyes, or watering eyes. Splash water and wash your eyes at least 3-4 times a day.Tips:
It is advisable to take frequent breaks, either do stretches or take a short walk once every hour for 10-15 minutes. Use a well ventilated room. Reduce emission in laser printers, photocopiers, and scanners.Problems can be eliminated and the risk reduced by inculcating good posture and working habits.

Pocket PC Games - Your Guide To Free Full Versions

(Charlie Cory Published 02/17/2007)

More and more PDA users are adding playing games to the list of things they do on their PDA. You can spend unbelievable amounts of money on these games or you can get them for free. Who doesn't like getting something for free? It is actually easier then you might think to get free full version pocket pc games. You just have to know where to look. There are some different types of games and you should get to know about them before you go looking so you what will work for you.
The first type is called freeware. Freeware is, as its name suggests, free. You do not have top pay any registration or other fees. It can be freely distributed without worry. They are quite easy to find with a simple search on a search engine. Just type in the word "freeware" along with the name or type of game you are looking for. Another type of gameware is shareware. Shareware is only a partial version of a game. It is a way for a game maker to let you play before trying. Sometimes you have to pay a fee to be able to download the game. These types of game ware often have levels that are blocked or other features that you can not use until you pay a registration fee. Some games are actually worth getting as shareware because only advanced options are blocked, leaving you with the main game play accessible. One more downside to shareware is they often have what are called nag screens. These nag screens pop up to remind you to register the game. If you are looking for a truly free full version download you should probably stick with freeware.
There are two different types of games that can be found in freeware. There are clones and originals. Originals are much harder to find then clones. Usually free versions of an original game are only available for old games that are no longer profitable. The manufacturer then allows them to be distributed for no cost. Clone versions copy a popular game. The creator will make a new game based on the concept of an existing game. They change it up a little to avoid infringing on copyright laws. Clones are easy to find and widely available for all different PDA types. You will have the most luck finding a clone version of a game, but if it is an older game you may get lucky and be able to find it for free.
If you want a full version pocket pc game for free you should definitely start searching the internet. The recommended things to look for are freeware clones. The beauty of clones are you are getting as game that is basically like the brand name version, but for free. Once you discover the world of freeware you will never buy a game again. The article was written by Charlie Cory, who is the owner of Pocket PDA. Getting handheld computers in the palm of your hand. Playing creative games for fun: a great way to relax

Marias Alexandru Published 09/24/2005

Play is a state of mind that is safe, inquisitive and exists in the moment. It is also a bodily state of relaxation and an uplifting and engaged emotional state. Some say play is a spiritual state of profound connection and joy.
Play can be something we do by ourselves or with others, but it is also something we can watch others do. Play is often described as a time when we feel most alive, yet we often take it for granted and may completely forget about it. Play can be entirely positive, or have a negative.
Most people believe that play is unproductive, and therefore inferior to ?productive? activities. Perhaps this is because we equate play with feeling ?happy joyous feeling ?that traditionally is seen as less important than thinking. Many of us have lists, at home and at the office, prioritizing tasks by how productive they are.
When we run out of time, we cut the fun stuff and do the ?productive? stuff because we may feel guilty or bad if we play hooky or goof off by playing a game of golf or chess, taking a hike in the woods or daydreaming for an hour.
New research on the brain contradicts this cultural dismissal of play, by emphasizing the importance of feelings and the necessity of feeling safe and relaxed in order to think clearly and productively. Play teaches us how to manage and transform our ?negative? emotions and experiences; it supercharges learning, and is a foundational factor in good mental and physical health. And, it can make work more pleasurable.
How can play trigger the flow state? Psychiatrist and writer Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, (pronounced "chicks send me high?) studied play in Sidney, Australia and described it as a flow state that requires just the right balance of challenge and opportunity. If the game is too hard or too easy, it loses its sense of pleasure and fun. Maintaining a flow state in games with others requires all participants, regardless of age or ability, to feel challenged, but not overwhelmed.
Csikszentmihalyi?s research has been undertaken and confirmed in several countries, and now reaches 250,000 surveys. In the flow state we feel: Why is play an important part of our lives? Humans are designed by nature to play, and have played throughout evolution.
Playfulness is an inborn ability that is hardwired into our genetic code. Play is part of how humans have adapted and survived everywhere on Earth, from the tropics to the great deserts to the Arctic Circle. We want to play because it is instinctive and fundamental to our existence; it is one of the evolutionary mechanisms that enabled us to develop as a species. Playing helps us survive by connecting us to other human beings and to sources of energy and excitement within ourselves. Play is simultaneously a source of calmness and relaxation, as well as a source of stimulation for the brain and body. Play will be important to our future.
Some futurists have said that we'll need to be more inventive, creative, and flexible to handle the tasks, flow and rhythm of life in this century and beyond. A sure (and fun) way to develop these abilities is to play ? with your children and grandchildren, your officemates and friends.
Why is it important to play at work? When researchers follow pre-teen children?s attitude about play, they discovered that some children called almost everything they did ?play? while others called almost everything they did ?work?.
Reconnecting with the children at the end of adolescence, the children who thought of everything as play were more successful and happier in school and were more content socially than the people who saw everything as ?work?.
Success at work does not depend on the amount of time you work. It depends upon the quality of work, and the quality of work depends on the level of well-being of the workers. The level of well-being depends significantly on the how often they replenish themselves through play in any of its forms. Work is where we spend much of our time. That is why it is especially important for us to play during work. Without some recreation, our work suffers.
Most of us have been working faster, harder, and smarter, and with diminishing free time. We first thought that working faster, harder, and smarter would handle our increased workload, but that is not the case.
We still got behind and became chronically overwhelmed. When the project you're working on hits a serious glitch (as they frequently do), heading out to the basketball court with your colleagues to shoot some hoops and have a few laughs does a lot more than take your mind off the problem. If basketball isn't your cup of tea, having a model airplane contest, telling stories, or flying kites in the parking lot will also allow your relationship to the problem to shift and enable you to approach it from a new perspective. Interjecting play into the work cycle: keeps you sane and functional during times of stress; refreshes your mind and body; renews hope; triggers creativity; and increases energy. Playing non-violent computer games can be a great way to relax and combat stress, at home and at work, by children and adults.
There are many sites on the Internet with free or resonable priced non-violent computer games, such as: Fun Games Plaza ,Kids Games , Addicting Games Or Amic Games. About the Author: Alexandru Marias is an IT student mentaining software sites: www.amicutilities.com , www.downloadsplaza.com

(Matthew Anton Published 10/24/2007)

Most of us are old enough to remember when the Commodore 64 first came out followed by the Atari system. The initial reaction to these systems was sheer amazement as we played with our pixels for hours upon hours. Soon we learned how to beat the Artificial Intelligence and the games replay value suffered greatly.
So why do video games become boring or outdated? Obviously a huge factor is technology and graphics, but a stronger component is competition and the ability to adapt. Single player games do not offer the ability to adapt; the artificial intelligence today doesn?t allow for complex strategies or maneuvers to be utilized, but we know who can ? Humans! Yes, there is nothing like outthinking, outmaneuvering, besting, owning, fragging, or whatever you want to do, to another living, breathing, frustrated human being.
When you get that kill shot on a computer you know they don?t get emotional, but when you take out a live opponent, you know he/she is slamming their keyboard and possibly ripping out their cable modem (Stracraft comes to mind for this). It is not the mere act of succeeding but rather how hard the success was to obtain. Even killing ?newbs? (new players) after a while gets old as you need more of a challenge; you need someone that is adept at thinking on the spot and maneuvering in such ways that the computer or a newb could never achieve. You have now reached a new level of your gaming ability and the only way to grow further as a player is to play the best.
To play the best you will need to play against the world, literally. By playing online users, one can play the best users all across the globe in an effort to test adaptability, focus, reflexes, strategy, and yes digital-courage. It isn?t enough to have competitor A go first, then competitor B go to see who can outscore or time trial the fastest on a map. That is the weakest form of competition as it is not direct. No, you need to play against each other in real time in order to the get the adrenaline rush.
My latest example is the game Joust. This game is old, outdated, crappy graphics, and previously single player. No one really played this game today. That is until it was announced it would become a multiplayer game on the Xbox 360 live. Now you can Joust against others; the game has now evolved from defeating simple AI mechanics to a full blown strategy/reflexes game against the best. This can be seen with PS3 having Mortal Kombat available for online play. This game is very old as well and mostly used for nostalgia until the online component breathed life and competition back into it.
Just what are the advantages to Single Player games than, if any? Well, the technology isn?t that cheap and most can?t afford a PS3 or Xbox 360 plus the Live fee. The advantages are only cost and beginning practice. As the cost gets cheaper the only added benefit one can get from Single Player is map memorization, game mechanics, and the very basics the game has to offer. Most don?t want to play against other opponents till they understand the intricacies of the game, and rightfully so. Single player games are going the way of the Dodo as cheap Online Games take it place. Who would have thought Joust and Mortal Kombat I would be resurrected in 2008, well over a decade after their initial release? Ask you parents to have a kid brother, or go online and experience the wonders of making someone spam you with profanity, or ripping out their modem as you harass them endlessly. Online Games bring out the worst and best of us, while Single Player games just alleviate some boredom. Hell, even Pong can be fun if it?s a nationwide competition. Sending this article to a friend will help them realize to get off their single player RPG kick ;)

Next Generation of Gaming

(Shelby Childers Published 05/26/2006)

Ever since I once I young kid, I've loved playing video games. There is no better entertainment in the world to me than video games. I find it fascinating being able to interact with the environments and do things myself rather than just watching a movie or television show in which you can't control. Video games bring out the kid in all of us. Even timid people may find themselves yelling at the screen and pouncing on the floor in front of large audience or via internet play. I find video games to be great for social activities also. Nothing will cause a tough jock and a scrawny nerd to socialize more than a video game.
Video games are huge and they're becoming more mainstream everyday. It would be difficult to find a male kid in school who doesn't own some kind of video game console. Even female video gamers are increasing rapidly. Nintendo released a handheld called, "Nintendo DS" which features some games more directed to the female and non-gamer audience. These games include titles such as "Nintendogs", "Brain Training", and "Super Princess Peach".
The future of video games maybe rather interesting. Graphics keep improving and look more realistic than ever. XBox 360 and Playstation 3 have graphics better than most computers in houses. They say the future of gaming within the next 5 years is HD and crystal clear graphics. Nintendo Wii is taking a rather different approach. They say the future is a new, free movement hand controller. It will change the way people play games and make them look more fun. Nintendo hopes developers can come up with innovative ideas that make people think outside the box. They believe a wide range of people with purchace the console including the elderly, females, and non-gamers.

MMOG Currency Revolution

ruibo chen Published 11/22/2005

MMOG currencies was first introduced from the popular game EverQuest (EQ) with their currency "platinum", also known as "plat". Since the first pioneers of selling plats on Ebay, many have argued and frowned upon those that have ever purchased plats online. I recall many players harassing others with foul names such as "newb" and "ebayer". It has been over 5 years that everyone has been arguing whether the secondary market of trading MMOG money would ever be accepted.
Since the introduction of EverQuest platinum, there were probably more than 70% of players that wouldn?t even consider purchasing plats and discriminated against those who did. As of today, the numbers have been reduced extraordinarily. About 40% of the players now purchase currencies, 30% still disliking the idea and 30% of the other players probably does not care too much and may purchase some them selves in the near future.
Although online game currency is still a new trend to the online gaming community, it is getting popular at a very hasty rate. Within the end of 2010, I believe even the publishers themselves will support the foundation of the secondary market. Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) have now begun their own EverQuest 2 gold auction system and planning to start a new MMORPG in which they intend to sell currencies and items themselves. With their support, I?m sure the secondary market will be accepted over a period of time.
The secondary market is only as successful as the primary. With the release of World of Warcraft (WoW), there are now more than 4.5 million subscribers. A vast majority of those players are probably new to the MMORPG world. A large increase of subscribers means alot more potential for the secondary market. So far, WoW gold has been the hottest seller of the year and perhaps a few more years down the road. With the huge demand on, many players have even started a career in which they collect money, items and other virutal assets and sell them to players or to stores who may buy them at wholesale price and resell it back to individuals.
The secondary market one day may even be bigger than the primary. Many gamers of today probably spend more on buying currencies, items and equipments than their subscription fee. The publishers themselves can't even deny the fact that there are lots of money to be made in the secondary market that over a vast period of time I'm sure they will be selling their virtual assets themselves. As for whether the players will support it or not, I believe is just a matter of time before acceptance, of course there will always be a few who will dislike the idea.

How to Make a Warhammer 40K Space Marine Bunker ?

(Matthew Glanfield)

An essential of most common terrain pieces. Anybody who has a Space Marine army must have a bunker of some kind. It would be ridiculous not to have one. Besides, Its not difficult to create one.
Materials List
-22?x28? foam board
-utility knife
-fine grit sandpaper
-PVA glue (white glue)
-thin polystyrene (styrofoam)PAINTS-codex gray-skull white-chaos black-textured paint (gray)

Step 1 Outlining and cutting
There?s a plenty of sizes that could be used when making a space marine bunker. For this reason I won?t give exact dimensions. It will be adequate to say that sides and roof top will be used. So start by outlining and cutting down 4 sides. Be sure to make the windows the same height as their bolt guns. The height of the walls should be close to double the height of a space marine. Assemble 2 walls longer than the others walls so it will look like a rectangular shape. Repeat this process again and pair the walls.

Step 2 Create wall with door
When creating a wall with a door, set up only one of the walls with a door. The inner wall will then become a good background for the door designs.

Step 3 Glue sides together
Attach all 8 sides together. Remember each wall is actually paired with 2 parts combined. This gives the bunker more permanence and the windows are deep set into the building.

How To Get Free Gold In World Of Warcraft

Nick Wong Published 12/25/2005
It may sound incredible that video games can establish an effective? economy, with its own currency and value. This is what it’s happening? with World of Warcraft. This is a so called MMORPG, Massively? Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.
In role-playing games, you create a character -- one that's not? necessarily like you, but one that suits your style. This character can? be one of many different races, and it can be many different things --? a wizard or mage, a thief or rogue, or just a plain fighter. The goal? of the game is to go on adventures with groups of friends, finding? treasure and gaining experience that makes your character more powerful? as he attains new levels. All the while acting like this character --? and not necessarily you -- would act.
A large part of role-playing games involves calculations, and that? takes the person out of the role. When you say, "I attack the gnoll" --? you then need to roll a die, and then make calculations as to whether? you actually hit the beast, and how hard.
A large part of role-playing games involves calculations, and that takes the person out of the role. When you say, "I attack the gnoll" -- you then need to roll a die, and then make calculations as to whether you actually hit the beast, and how hard.
Computers were a natural fit to replace the tedious aspects of RPGs. The dice rolling and calculations still happen, but behind the scenes so that you're never taken out of the action. The first result of this marriage of computers, multiple-players and RPGs were text-only online games called MUDs. or Multi-User-Dungeons. These MUDs dominated college mainframes in the late 80's and early nineties. Then came EverQuest -- which still had all of the dice rolling, but added a 3-D graphical interface that depicted the results of the calculations. You still could see text in the window that says, "You hit the gnoll for 35 damage," but you can also see your sword slamming into its face, and hear him cry out in pain. EverQuest was highly successful in its time, and I tried to like it, but it was incredibly clunky, and boring. You spent the first 10 hours killing rats and snakes and other low-level creatures to gain experience.
This is not the case with World of Warcraft (WoW). As with almost every Blizzard title, the game is highly polished, has an intuitive interface, and is simply beautiful to look at and listen to. A team of over 30 artists worked on the game's visuals, and it shows. The art is highly stylized -- the world doesn't look entirely realistic, and that's on purpose, as I found out through the behind the scenes DVD that came with the collector's edition of the game. EverQuest II, the sequel to the pioneering EverQuest, tries to look realistic, and for that reason you notice the flaws a lot more when it fails. The stylized visuals of WoW somehow make it easier to suspend your disbelief, and immerse you in the world.
And immerse you it does. Let me warn you -- this game is highly addictive. In the two months I've been at it, I've logged over five days of playing time. And I've stopped watching TV altogether.
Of all the online role-playing games out there, this is the best. All of the others, especially EverQuest II, pale in comparison. EverQuest II's interface is clunky, and there's a lot of grinding -- the act of killing the same type of monster over and over again to gain experience. In contrast, WoW's quest system starts you off right away with purposeful missions. There are multiple story lines that advance as you complete quests.
There's also the overarching battle between factions of players. When you create a character, the race you choose decides which side you're on -- Alliance or Horde. Players of both factions exist in the same worlds and can battle each other.
The interface just feels right. It lets you get down to the business of role playing, and doesn't get in the way.
In WoW, interaction with other players is essential. There are certain quests that cannot be finished solo. The human element adds a lot of spice to the game. These are the shining moments of the game, when you're deep inside a dungeon with four other real people, and the unexpected or the heroic occurs.
It's easy to take on your role in the game, because other players can't see or hear you, they only see what you make your character do.
Massively multi-player online role-playing games (MMORPGs) have their own vocabulary and etiquette. There are very specific, unwritten rules around almost every aspect of player interaction. It's tough to know what they are, but other players will let you know if you've violated them.
World of Warcraft is the best online roleplaying game to date. It's a pleasure to be immersed in this deep, beautiful and ever-changing world. Now, other games seem rather flat without human interaction. I'll be playing this game for a long time. You can find me on Feathermoon-look for a Warlock named Galt.
It is a virtual world in which various characters interact each other,? everyone representing a player. In order to buy items, services and? various goods the player needs virtual gold, that is the currency of? the World of Warcraft world.
The World of Warcraft phenomenon might be affecting people in a more? subtle way than we think. Yes, there have been some cases of dearth? (allegedly) caused by over-exposure to World of Warcraft, but what's even more? disturbing is that people are beginning to spend important amounts of? money for this game.
Actually, the main source to earn World of Warcraft gold is undertaking quests and? interacting with the other characters (human and non human). Anyway, on? the Internet there are many sellers of World of Warcraft gold, willing to give a? player the desired amount in exchange of real money. For instance,? there are online auctions or websites devoted to gold trading such as http://www.igxp.com
It's tempting to buy gold, however.? I have a lower-level character in World of Warcraft that is about to reach level 40 -- which required four days of playing? time to reach--and I'll be able to purchase a horse that will let me? move 60 percent faster in the world. The trouble is, it costs around 90? gold pieces total to train and buy it. My character has only three gold? now. It will take me MANY hours to save that amount of gold... or I? could pay the $30 and have it now. Is $30 worth hours of my time?
Real World of Warcraft addicts love those kind of transactions, because they want to? improve their character, equipping it with new weapons, buying skills? and more. ? However, now there is an alternative way to obtain World of Warcraft gold, that doesn’t require any form of payment. And? in order to find out what this alternative offers, go to http://www.gold-world-of-warcraft.com You’re sure to make some economies, by following the advice from the website.

How to Dominate PvP

(Matthew Anton Published 11/19/2007)
They live in a world based on rules, tells Morpheus to Neo. A statement has never been truer for that of gamers; some rise above the rules or fundamentals of the game, while others sit idly by, accepting the game mechanics and virtual world at face value. When one begins to question the world, in this case virtual world, they live in, you begin to see there are ways to become better, faster, and smarter, than the program ever truly intentioned. Are you ready to free your mind and become the PvP Lord you were meant to be? Take the Red Pill with me now.
The game you play is not of much importance but the principles to follow are timeless. Keep in mind we are not playing for fun as the end goal, we are playing to win, but the fun will come indirectly from being the best. With feelings set aside, choose the best ?skill based? PvPer the video game has to offer. Usually melee or warrior types (Dexers) aren?t the best since their world is based on rules. You must pick a skill based class that takes time to refine; this can be either a pure caster, or some form of hybrid. The point here is knowing all the strengths and weaknesses of yourself and your opponent.
To master and manipulate the PvP you must have a great understanding of the physical world around you. Once you understand how to move to avoid hits, whether side to side, up and down, or left and right rapidly, you can successfully dodge more attacks. In 3d games this becomes even more effective as time/spatial relations rely most on reaction time and those that understand when and why a hit will land.
After you mastered the physical movement, understanding combinations is the next step. You must approach your game as if it were Mortal Kombat. Even though you might not be jump kicking you still are unconsciously utilizing combinations, whether they are good or bad. If a player has casted a DOT (Damage Over Time) spell, chances are the opponent will attempt to cure it. This leaves him open for a Direct Damage Spell, or perhaps a Melee attack. Whatever the combination, understand this; PvP is a big Math equation/ IF then Statement wrapped in graphics. Once you understand that if you DOT (A) someone, they will do (B) cure. When someone begins to cast a spell on you, you must condition your body and mind to immediately cast your counter spell without hesitation. A player that doesn?t understand delayed damage stacking with direct damage will never truly become a PvPer and always fall victim to a more seasoned comboer.
So you now realize you need those fast combinations, some dealing large amounts of damage, but your fingers aren?t fast enough. This is where setting up Macros comes in to play. The newbies of the world will rely on the rules that are preset; they will not realize you can setup multiple hotkeys to trigger other hotkeys. Utilizing the F1-F12 keys, plus the buttons on a mouse, one can instantly call upon the correct answer to the Math equation that is PvP.
Now at this point you can maneuver around flawlessly in your environment and you have a great understanding of spell combinations and delays. The next step is to develop muscle memory. Through repetitive use muscle memory will allow you to make the correct decision and hit the correct hotkey every time through repetition. Here, and only at this step can you begin dueling others, preferably friends or guild mates, to fine tune your reaction time.
At first you will be clumsy, you will forget your hotkeys, you will forget to heal, you will forget combinations, and yes you will lose to the less talented warrior. But their world is based on rules, and once you rise above these rules the next warrior that runs at you with his sword and shield will have you jumping around laughing as you nuke, combo, and strike your way to the WIN. Enjoy dry looting his equipment based character and proceed to the next computer programmed bound victim.
